Large government grant for Whitehill Bordon
5:35am 9th February 2010.
A Government grant of nearly 11-million-pounds has been awarded to Whitehill Bordon.
East Hampshire District Council has described it as a great day for the town and says work can now begin on the some of the projects that were already in the pipeline.
They include making council buildings and schools more environmentally friendly - and updating transport links.
Some of the cash will go towards creating allotments in the town so people can grow their own food - while a green demonstration show house will be built.
Whitehill Bordon is receiving the funding because of its eco-town status.
And one of the many benefits residents will see is the introduction of free broadband for evey home by 2012.
