Plans to stop drivers using shortcuts around the Hindhead Tunnel are being criticised.

Officials want to install traffic calming measures in Grayshott and Hindhead.

But residents are urging them to wait until the tunnel opens next summer - to see if the move is necessary.

Clive Slaughter - who's Chairman of Grayshott Parish Council - thinks they may never be needed: "Whilst we have been able to influence Hampshire because of their knowledge of the area, we get no reaction whatsoever from Surrey. So this is a last resort."

Surrey County Council says it's now consulting residents over a possible deferral of the plans.
