County Sound Radio Presenters
Dave Johns
Monday to Saturday Breakfast 7am - Midday
I was born in Surrey and have I’ve lived here all my life. The local places I love include anywhere along the Thames, the grounds of Guildford Castle and any country pub serving real ale (not lager or that frothy stuff) and a decent, good value meal. I love cycling, swimming and walking and try to keep reasonably fit, but often fail miserably.
I enjoy following the Guildford Flames ice hockey team and attend as many matches as I can.
My taste in music is extensive and I don’t really have any particular favourite groups or artists but I do like the Stones, Queen, Dire Straits, Elvis, Buddy Holly, the Drifters, Dusty Springfield and Girls Aloud
Although I watch TV, there are only a few programmes that I’m into including Dancing on Ice, factual/news documentaries, 2 and a half Men, Frasier (when it was on), Harry Hill’s TV Burp and Desperate Housewives (there goes my street cred!)
There isn’t much I won’t eat except egg custard pudding, olives and marzipan (except a little in Christmas cake) so I’m good for Sunday roast, Chinese, Tai, Mexican and Indian meals, pizzas and fish and chips
I like animals but prefer other people to have pets. I’m up early enough every morning as it is without wanting to worry about sorting out a cat or walking a dog.
I’m not a very keen gardener but I’m ok at DIY when I get started although I can usually find a good reason why jobs around the house can wait until next weekend
When it comes to holidays, I prefer to spend time in the sunshine rather than in snow and particularly like Turkey, the Canary Islands, Portugal, parts of Spain and Tunisia although, for a holiday in Britain, nowhere beats Devon and Cornwall.
Finally, I was asked recently what I couldn’t live without if I was stranded on a deserted island. It would be a radio, a pc (computer not a police officer!) and a crate of proper beer.
That’s me - cheers

Saturday 2pm - 6pm
I am ‘fresh local produce’ being born and raised in Aldershot before moving to Farnborough to complete a degree in Media Production. During this time I started helping Dave Johns on the Breakfast Show and annoyed him so much that he gave me my own show on a Friday afternoon. I moved to Saturdays after that as well as providing cover when Dave is off on his ‘jollies’. Other jobs I have had include working in a bakery, a petrol station and as a ride operator at a theme park. In my spare time I enjoy going to live gigs and festivals as well as supporting the Guildford Flames, Glasgow Rangers and Aldershot Town F.C. I can also be found nursing a pint and doing the pub quiz at my Local.

Sunday Breakfast with Lyndsey Honour
Sunday 7am - 12pm
Having grown up in Brum, I ventured north to Sheffield where I learnt something very important from my law degree: that I definitely wasn’t going to be a lawyer…
I was lured from the Peaks by the bright lights of London, where I was bitten by the broadcasting bug, spinning tunes to patients on the local hospital radio station – Another One Bites the Dust, The First Cut is the Deepest, any song by The Killers...all request show favourites.
I love music and watching bands live – Pink Floyd reunited at Live 8 in 2005, The Who at Glastonbury 2007 and Brian Wilson belting out Beach Boy classics in the long-awaited festival sunshine in 2005 are a few personal highlights.
Rolling Stones is one band I would’ve loved to have seen when they were in their prime …and Blondie. Actually no, I would have loved to have been in Blondie.
I like my films independent and gritty (Dead Man’s Shoes, 21 Grams, Requiem for a Dream), and my television funny and escapist (Peep Show, Flight of the Conchords, Gossip Girl).
If I could have my time over I would learn guitar from the age of two, front a rock band and headline the Pyramid stage as the sun sets over Glastonbury.
As it is, I’ll happily settle for the next best thing – playing the best songs of all time on the radio, singing along very loudly/badly where, luckily, no one can hear!

Focus On Faith
Sunday 7pm - 8pm
Not your average 'religious' radio show!!! We can’t answer all of life’s questions, but if you want to explore some of the more important ones, who better to help you than County Sound’s Focus on Faith?
Using a mixture of news, thoughts, special guests, entertaining features, great music, and plenty of humour, the Focus on Faith team take you on a journey through a whole range of subjects (both light and ‘heavy’) – from a religious perspective. And we’re always interested to have your involvement in the show too!
Rob Mansell
Rob's involvement with Focus on Faith began in 1999. After obtaining a degree in Music and Sound Recording in 1994 from the University of Surrey, he passed through a number of computing-related jobs, until he reached the height of his career in 2000, as one of a team of caretakers of a large Baptist church centre in Guildford! When he’s not caretaking, there is plenty of other work to do. As an accomplished musician, he is often called upon as a pianist and organist for weddings, funerals etc. When he’s not involved with the any of above, he enjoys wine-making, walking and travelling
Anne Heine
Anne met Rob on a short term mission trip to Ecuador in 2000. When Rob needed a new ‘female voice’ for Focus on Faith, Anne came to mind (possibly because of her ability to talk for Britain on any subject at no notice at all!!) Rob thinks she is the wisdom behind the show. She thinks God does that, but she keeps Rob grounded and in order! She works for Compassion Child Sponsorship. Her passions include God, family, friends, mission, travel and the arts.
Debbie Russ
Debbie came on Focus on Faith as a guest in 2007. And we haven’t let her go since!
The Focus on Faith team are good friends and hopefully that makes for a relaxed listening experience - just like joining a couple of friends over a coffee or a drink – or even a glass of Rob’s home made wine! Do join us…

County Swing with David Seal
Sunday 8pm - 9pm
Becoming a radio freak in the early 1950's when it was called the wireless, David Seal began building and repairing radio sets and listening to "foreign" stations such as Radio Luxembourg, AFN and Voice of America on short wave.
His early years were mainly influenced by classical music (from 78s) and learning to play the violin but he soon discovered the delights of jazz in general and, especially, big band swing; finding the gramophone easier to play than the violin!
Whilst music and collecting records remained a hobby, radio and television engineering became David's source of income both as technician and, for seventeen years, a lecturer and tutor at technical and art colleges and as a technical author.
In 1979, David moved to the Engineering Dept. of Thames Television at Teddington Studios until the franchise ended in 1992.
During the early '80s, he joined Radio Lion at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford as one of two producer/presenters of a weekly swing programme, the other presenter being Mick White, a vice-president of the West Surrey Big Bands Society.
David later moved to Hospital Radio Basingstoke whilst working as a Principal Engineer for Sony Broadcast Systems until he retired in 1999.
David became a supporter of Wey Valley Radio soon after it began transmissions from Alton in the early '90s and was later invited to take over as producer/presenter of "Swingtime the Big Bands" for Delta FM. Following changes there, David joined County Sound Radio in September 2007 to present "County Swing" each Sunday evening from 8.00 - 9.00 pm
Among other voluntary occupations he is a Committee Member of the West Surrey Big Bands Society, a Member of the Farnham Crime Prevention Panel for Surrey Police, and a Member of the Farnham Wey Vale Probus Club. Hobbies include photography, scuba diving and digitally restoring other collectors' recordings of which there seems to be an infinite supply.
